GM Designed a Car That Able Walking Alone

General Motors announced a concept vehicle two-wheeled future that can be run automatically, without the need to drive the driver manually.
The car named EN-V (Networked-Electric Vehicle) is designed to anticipate future conditions, as a solution to environmental problems, road density and traffic accidents.

This projection is based on General Motors in 2030, where about 60 percent of the 8 billion people now living in urban areas, so that weighed heavily on public transportation infrastructure.

"EN-V is a combination of electrification and connectivity, providing solutions for urban mobility, because the driving experience offers gasoline and emissions-free, free density and traffic accidents, as well as providing fun and style," said Kevin Wale, president of General Motors China, such as quoted from Computerworld.

Working concept car by General Motors in cooperation with Shanghai Industry Corporation Group (SAIC) was built on a platform developed by Segway, a company that developed the two-wheeled electric vehicles are quite popular in the United States

EN-V is a vehicle that can be driven manually or automatically operated (drive-by-wire). Small vehicle around a third of the size of traditional vehicle was equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS) technology inter-vehicle communications, as well as proximity sensor technology.

This vehicle could also reduce the density of traffic, with the ability automatically to choose the fastest route based on destination information highway density of real-time.

With sensors and camera system that has, EN-V is claimed to map out the situation around and able to react quickly to overcome obstacles or changes in circumstances that are happening.

For example, if there is a pedestrian who suddenly crossed in front of the vehicle, EN-V immediately reduce speed to a safer conditions, even able to stop earlier than vehicles that exist today. This made passenger vehicles can be more secure from accidents.

This concept car is also equipped with wireless communication systems so that passengers can communicate with the vehicle to their friends through social networking, during the trip.

Vehicles weighing about 500 kg is powered by an electric motor capable of carrying two passengers and light baggage. Like cell phones, energy supplied by a lithium-ion battery, so that absolutely no emissions.

To recharge the battery, the car owner simply connecting the EN-V into a standard outlet like the one in every home. Every time the battery fully charged, the car was able to travel distances of up to 40 kilometers.

Three models of cars EN-V; the EN-V Pride, EN-V Magic, and EN-V Laugh, will be exhibited at the Shanghai World Expo 2010, between May 1 to October 31 2010.

Previously, General Motors itself has developed a vehicle that can drive itself automatically (autonomous vehicle), along with students at Carnegie Mellon University Pittsburgh United States that produces the Chevrolet Tahoe vehicle, aka 'The Boss' in 2007.
