Back in 2005, a liitle robot boy riding a bicycle called "Murata Seisaku-kun" made its debut at CEATEC Japan. This year at the same event, its developer Murata Manufacturing Co.Ltd. presents a unicycle-riding robot girl called "Murata Seiko-chan". At 20 inches in height and 11 pounds in weight, this little robot has a fictional story of its own. According to Murata, Seiko-chan was born on September 23 and is Seisaku-kun's paternal younger cousin. She's an "active but very shy" kindergartner whose dream is to go round the world cycling together with Seisaku-kun.
Seiko-chan's story was probably drafted in order to engage children, as that isMurata's aim in the first place. Seiko-chan was made for visiting class presentation to show kids that sciences and technology are fun. The robot that has a speed of 5cm per second uses a pair of gyro sensors for balance, ultrasonic sensors to detect obstacles, bluetooth module for wireless controlling, and in its chest is a rotating flywheel that helps it turn left or right.
